What a wonderful place this world would be if we could all tap into our dreams and passions and not only take a risk, but enjoy the adventure as well. Designer, Kate Elfatah has achieved this with her artistic ability to craft quality and trendy women’s handbags, children’s apparel and accessories.

Kate began designing and sewing cosmetic bags for friends a few years ago,  the demand was so high she started creating totes and handbags to  compliment her collections.

As her designing began to take flight, Kate had to make sacrifices and    juggled home life with a demanding full time job. As a single mother, Kate  worked in the corporate world for many years but knew if given the  opportunity she could combine her savvy business expertise with her talent  or sewing and crafting unique yet functional pieces for women and children.

Kate had to make the bold decision to leave the corporate world and follow  her dream of becoming a Designer and local business owner. Hence, House  of Minerva; a small design house was formed. In two short years, Kate has  taken House of Minerva and produced a viable and profitable business,  while  continuing her dedication to the small business model; attention to  detail and  exceptional customer service. Kate’s vision and imagination to  create has  flourished under the freedom of being her own boss. Once a weekend hobby,  House of Minerva is now thriving and has turned into a “family” endeavor. Her 2 daughters and niece have joined Kate in her home, producing House of Minerva’s items. House of Minerva’s line has grown from tote bags to aprons, toddler dresses and now intricate and challenging custom work.

This talented woman’s drive has not gone unnoticed. Kate has taken her business on the road. House of Minerva has become a favorite label amongst the Hollywood crowd and gifting suites for the Oscars and MTV’s, America’s Best Dance Crew. House of Minerva has traveled to Park City Utah during the Sundance Film Festival. In 2012 at the Debbie Durkin Eco-Lounge and in 2013, she was honored to take part in the Fender Music Lodge and gifting suite. Kate designed a line of neck warmers specifically for this event.

This fun accessory was gifted to some of Hollywood’s biggest names as well as media, indie film makers and actors. During this event, a chance meeting with Golden  Globe and Grammy nominee, Courtney Love of the culturally influential band, Hole  which allowed her to show off her talent for delivering quality under pressure. Kate was  thrilled to do custom work and tailoring for Courtney, hours before she was to take the  stage.

Kate’s success is due in part to her marketing and social media expertise. Highly skilled in navigating through the often time murky social media waters; Kate she has been called upon by her fellow small business owners for consulting and mentoring and small business coaching.Kate believes in helping small businesses in her community and help them believe they too can do it.

House of Minerva continues to grow as demands for  her products and services are in high demand. The  entire line of handbags and women and children’s  apparel are designed with classic fun patterns,  utilizing retro fabrics with a few new twists on standard apparel.

Now Kate has HoM Consulting, a small business consulting company where she assists business owners with the muddy waters of digital media in today’s Marketing world.
